The vast abundance of educational
teaching strategies never ceases to amaze me. Becoming an educator in the 21st
century, you have to be willing to try new strategies to introduce new ways for
students to learn. After learning about such things as virtual reality,
blogging, tutorials, RLO’s and more, it is incredible to think of what could
have changed in my own education. Using these teaching strategies, it would
encourage the active and authentic learning that is the main goal in nursing
education.
After
learning about new teaching strategies, I am confident that I will use such strategies
as blogging and tutorials in my future teaching strategies. After reading
classmates responses, another strategy I am very interested in is VR. I think
that by using VR in education, students have the opportunity to feel immersed
in the environment and be able to have a 3D look into that world. There is
something very interesting about that to me. Such sites as Immersive VREducation offer an online look into different worlds and experiences that
could be used to give students an idea of the VR world in general.
Introducing
such strategies as blogging and tutorials gives students a multitude of possibilities.
With Blogging, students can be actively involved in the direction that
their education goes based on their own experiences and how they describe them.
As an educator, to be able to review student’s blogs gives us the opportunity
to see how they really feel about their own education. That is a very
interesting thought to me. It’s as if it serves as an open forum into the mind
of the students and that could serve to be very valuable to new educators, such
as myself.
With using
strategies to promote active, authentic, applied and experiential learning, we
are giving our students the best possibility of success in their education. This
is of the utmost importance for us as educators in order to produce students
who will enjoy and be engaged in their education.
Megan, you are doing well with the blog.. I am sure you are beginning to see the possibilities for using blogs with your students.
